movie poster some like Discussions
| | | MAN OF THE YEAR movie discussion | | my review and thoughts...MAN OF THE YEAR is about a comedic talk show host deciding to run for president and then accidentally winning. Barry Levinson wrote and directs the film and Robin Williams eats up most of the screen time starring, while Christopher Walken, Luis Black, Laura Linney, and Jeff Goldblum mull about.First off: Robin Williams is usually like a hyper-active kid, cute for a moment, but then you wish he would just shut up. The movie tries to bring in a sub-plot to tone Williams down a bit in certain sections, however it is poorly executed.I rented this movie based off of some funny political clips I had seen and also due to my agreeing with the basic summary that: politics have gotten out of hand. There is a blurred line these days between political parties with all of them catering to special interest groups, lobbyists, and money. You understand that this is a message being portrayed with comedy by merely watching the movie trailer. However, once you actually start watching the movie you realize that the ideas Robin’s character has and the things he says are funnier outside the context of a movie with such a lame plot. The movie goes from being the... | |
| | Any movie poster freaks around here? | | The sorry saga: Friend of mine has a heap of original movie posters, promo stuff he picked up as a movie distributor and a collector for the last 40 years or so. There are thousands of these things, including an original "From Here To Eternity" poster, with serial number, etc. I know these things are genuine, because my father used to do graphics like these. Even the inks don't exist any more. So even if some museum could scrape up the parts for a photo lithography machine, they still couldn't do it. Anyway, being in Australia doesn't really help much when you're trying to move 20 thousand or so of these things. They belong in the States. They need to go home to be appreciated. Finally got on to a Yank, who managed to convince himself that they weren't originals. We said, "Look we'll send you a few, do whatever tests you want." No dice. Typically, ask anyone in the industry, and if someone condescends to reply, nothing happens. You hear about how blue sky these guys are, but believing it is another thing altogether. Meanwhile, we're still sitting on the things. Any ideas? Anyone know any real collectors? Same deal, any test you want to do, we'll send you a few.... | |
| | | | I saw new Harry Potter items at Barnes and Noble | | The next movie's promotion is well underway. I saw a coloring book loaded with pictures from all 5 movies. Promotional movie poster books, both hard and soft cover and a wizards guide to wand making. I purchased the coloring book for a 10 year old. Do you think you'd buy any of these items? | |
| | | When I was a kid, I was terrified of David Bowie! | | I used to have nightmares after I saw Labyrinth in the movie theatre.
Now, Jareth doesn't bother me anymore, but I was terrified when I was a kid. Did anyone else have this experience when they saw the movie as a child?
Over the years, Labyrinth has become one of my favorite movies.
When I was younger, I loved it because I related so much to Sarah's charachter. Now that I am older, I love the movie because I long for that innocence I had when I had first seen the movie.
I'm a big Labyrinth buff. I even have the soundtrack on my iPod!!
Anyone else a big fan? Do you have any of the books or figures from back then? I never got into collecting so much, I have a movie poster and a little Hoggle doll, but other than that, I just watch the movie every now and then. Both my kids have watched it with me, and they ove it too. (And neither one of them is terrified of David Bowie!) | |
| | Mystic Seaport | | Anyone ever been here? It was my first time in Connecticut when I went three years ago. The scenery is amazing up there. If I was worried about the water levels rising I'd definitely live there. We didn't have time to go to the museum because it was closed. But I was in the building for a second and a tour guide was explaining what attractions were there and so on. If you've ever seen the movie Mystic Pizza, you may notice that inside the actual pizza joint is the movie poster. Man, I can't wait to go back. | |
