| | | I rescue poor kittens when I was 9 years old.(and my mom always chase me for it) | | Many kittens (cats) are not so fortunate when it comes to having a home and a caring owner... like in our place many homes did not want pets. Some households even have these ideas of leaving the litter of a pet cat behind. (In vacant lots, forrest and even near river sides causing them to drown)..(There aren't fixed laws that protect pets and animals from such cruelty also)They said its too expensive to keep too many cats.. one is enough. And since techniques for keeping pets sterile is not quiet practice here.. bearing 1 to twice as much as 5 is common. But when was a kid of 9, I really pity and have this space in my heart for these creatures. So when I got to take my afternoon biking to this place near a fishing pond where you can hear sounds of crying kittens... I always try my best to pick maybe two and bring it home. My mom always chase me or scold me for it. she said it was smelly and difficult to be cared for it needs its mother rather than human hands because its too little...(sometimes they even have closed eyes yet)... But I won't budge and give up the poor kitties. I think before I reached my 12th bday... I have rescued more than 30 kittens...(some died and some survived... | |

| | Tell Craig's List To Stop Having People Place Ads to Give Away Free Pets | | Okay I know maybe some of you might be fed up with my PETA thing here..LOL...but this is another alert by them, and something I wasn't aware of as it has to do with the famous site craigslist--now since I've never use it --wasn't aware of what was going on.According to the connecting link article:Universal City police arrested a man accused of mutilating three cats and duct-taping their legs to a piece of plywood in Northeast Bexar County, a police detective said.
Austin George Patterson, 19, was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals, a state jail felony. He was in Bexar County Jail on Monday, with bond set at $61,000. If convicted, he could face 180 days to two years in jail and a $20,000 fine.
The three gray tabby cats — including a 3-year-old male named Taylor that was registered to Patterson and two others about 2 years old — were found Sunday at about 7:30 a.m. by a man walking along the Cibolo Creek trails, Universal City police Detective Tina Vitacco said.
The cats were found under a sweatshirt, their bodies arranged in the shape of a triangle. One was disemboweled, at least two had their throats slit and all three had fishing line tied around their... | |
| | Up-date About Craigslist Issue And What You Can Do | | I did a discussion about how Craigslist openly has ads about letting people display ads to adopt out pets they no longer want..and "free to a good home" type thing..I had included the issue that a man in Texas had adopted three cats via Craigslist only to torture, mutilate and kill those cats...
The whole discussion is here..and remember if you haven't signed the petition, please do so at the link I give therehttp://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1304627.aspxWell I actually emailed both Mr. Jim Buckmaster (CEO of Craigslist) and Craig Newmark....I haven't heard from Mr.Buckmaster, but I have heard from Mr. Newmark...I include his reply...which isn't much but I also include my email to him...I've zapped out some of my personal info here(Craig Newmark's email back to me and mine:)I'm having a really hard time parsing all this, but you're right,
there's a big issue there, with no good answers. We're getting
conflicting advice from lots of people.Mostly.. if you see an ad that's shaky, please flag it for removal.Clint, other advice? Thanks!CraigOn Mon, 15 Oct 2007, (deleted as had my name) wrote:> Dear Mr. Craig Newmark:

| | Time For Us To Move On | | A few years ago, we were forced to give up our 3 cats. Ok, so we could have taken them with us when fleeing from a nasty landlord, but we were moving to a pokey caravan where we couldn't see them being happy, so we surrendered them to the local animal welfare league. and believe me, I have cried bucket loads of tears since (and still do 6 years on). I'm not the kind of person who takes on an animal, and just gives them up, so things were very bad for the decision to be made.Any way, 6 years on and we are living in a house that is guaranteed to be ours for the next 10 years, and I am finally over beating myself up for giving up our other cats. The plan now, is to take our time and find a kitten through our local animal shelter (or maybe 3?). No rush, no pressure, just looking for the right one.I've actually dreamt about what type of kitten I am to get. It is fluffy (but not long haired), grey and full of personality. Now, I just have to buy all the things required for housing a cat (it will be mostly an indoor cat) and keep my eyes out for the one in my dreams.Anyone like to share their stories of having to give up a pet? Or maybe finding the perfect kitten from an... | |
