Washers Discussions
| Which Fabric softner do you use? Sheets or liquid? | | I used to always use the fabric softner sheets in the dryer. It is easy to just throw one in. Then I got a washer that has a section to put the liquid softner in and it adds it in the right cycle. I like the liquid stuff as I've heard that the sheets are bad for your dryer and leave sticky particles behind in the dryer. The problem is my hubby can't seem to figure it out and when he does the laundry he forgets to add it. I bought some sheets to as he can master the laundry with these. Which do you use and why? | |

| | Those fancy front loading washing machines | | Do you know what i'm talking about? They are the upright tall machines that come in those pretty colors and the doors are on the front instead of on top. Front loaders. Does anyone here have one? Do you think they fit more than a regular washer/ dryer set..? With our 5th kid coming soon, we need something that holds a ton of laundry, otherwise I keep telling my husband we are sending this laundry out to be done because I can't keep up! | |
| | Types of Lightning and safety tips. | | Lightning fascinates me. I'm very interested in weather. I didn't know, until I started researching, though, that there were many different types of lightning. Here are the types, and I'll post some safety tips, as well.~Forked lightning is lightning in which visible branches are present.~Streak lightning is a bolt that appears to be a single arc shaped line.~Ribbon lightning is viewed as parallel streaks of light. It's caused when winds separate the strikes of the bolt.~Chain lightning (also called bead lightning) is charactarized by a bolt that breaks into dotted lines as it fades.~Ball lightning's appearance is that of a fiery glowing ball (usually in red, yellow, or orange) which floats several feet above the ground. It can be as big as a grapefruit in size. It's also been reported to have been floating within houses and barns. It's unknown why ball lightning occurs or what it's made of.~Red sprites are charactarized as a dim, reddish-colored burst. They only last for a couple thousandth of a second and can be numerous kilometers wide. They appear suddenly, most likely more than one at a time, and rise up to 90 kilometers above the cloud... | |
| | Home Made Cleaning Product Recipes | | I have been watching the window washers outside the building washing the windows and noticing how streak free and clean they always are. I wanted to ask them what they used to clean them and was really hoping it was something I could buy. Well one of the window washers was in the elevator on the way up to wash windows inside and I asked him what they use and he said JOY liquid dish-washing soap. I remembered then the girl across the street had told me years ago all the uses for Joy. I don't know what makes it any different then any other but I bought some and washed my windows with it and it really does a beautiful job. Just squirt a bit in a bucket of warm water and off you go.
I ran out of carpet cleaner when I was cleaning my carpet and looked to see what could be used as a substitute. A lady looked at the bottle of her carpet cleaner and went to the dollar store to see what they had there with all the different chemicals in it. Cascade dishwasher powder had it. So I tried it . You take the powder and dissolve it in hot water then add more warm water to it and put it in your carpet cleaner tank . Vinegar is another product you can use. Dilute...

| | will you pay people who clean your windows at traffic lights without asking you? | | We were driving through london to go and visit my relative on the other side of the city. The traffic was slow and concentrated.
We stopped at the traffic lights and realised there was a group of men with squeegees and buckets of soapy water rushing up and down the row of traffic, cleaning the windows and then coming to the drivers window to be paid!
Luckily I had pen and paper as I was navigating and we cross off the directions as we have passed them.I wrote a quick sign saying 'please do not clean our windows' and held it up to the glass and when they came up to us my husband squirted the window and turned on the windscreen wipers. The window cleaners shrugged and moved to the next car.
How many of you have encountered similar 'window cleaning men' and what do you do? Do you let them clean and hand them money, not hand them money or say 'no thanks'?
| | The washer doesn't only eat socks.... | | It eats my daughters tiny little panties too! She should have like 30 pair and I can only find 3! What the heck is up with that? Someone is doing something with them or the washer seriously is eating them!!! Am I the only one that has this problem???? Please tell me I'm not cause I seriously think that I've done lost my mind!!! lol | |
| | Dirty clothes | | You have to have a way to wash and dry your clothes and other miscellaneous things.. Some people take all this stuff to the laundromat. I assume that most of us have washers and dryers in our homes somewhere. If you have your washer and dryer at home, where are they located? Do you have a laundry room or do you stick them out in the garage? How do you do your laundry? | |
| | My husband is really bugging me! | | I'm a work at home mom and that's how I help supplement the family income.
And, most of my income is generated directly online. Most of the time, my husband is very understanding and gives me space to work, without putting excess pressure on me about housework and stuff. But, sometimes when he has a day off, he asks me to get up and run errands for him.Sometimes it's just something like making a sandwich. But other times he wants to use my computer for hours on end. And, then I don't earn any money that day. Even though he enjoys the money I bring in, he won't allow me the time to earn it. It's very frustrating.
And, then he wants to know why I haven't been busy making any money. Guess it's a catch 22. This doesn't happen every day, just once or twice a week. I have to be able to use my computer to work online if I want to get paid. I don't want to alienate him or hurt his feelings cause I don't think he's trying to be mean. So, how do I get through to him, to let him know that I need some space.
