| What's your favorite kind of music? | | Do you like Rock & Roll, Hip Hop, Rap, Country, Pop, Opera? My favorite is Rock & Roll. I like some Hip Hop and even some Rap, although I'm an old broad. I like old country western - I don't really care for most of the new Country music. I like some Pop, like Neil Diamond - LOVE Neil Diamond, in fact. And I like some Opera but I prefer listening to Opera on CD, I don't really enjoy watching it in a theater. | |
| | Country music? | | Are you a country music fan?My kids love it, which cracks me up cuz I am not a huge fan at all and usually laugh at most of the crap they sing.I love all kinds of music and I think there are some very, very talented country artists. BUT... I can get depressed enough by reading the news, watching the television and thinking of some of my own problems without having to have to listen to someone whine about their problems or sing about people dying, etc. One son in particular that kills me is Rascal Flatts, whom I think is an awesome artist but is soooooo freaking depressing! lolAnyone else agree or disagree? | |
| | What In The World Would We Do Without Music? | | What in the world would you and I do if there was no such thing as music? Can you imagine a world without music? No songs, no tunes, no rock, no roll, no jazz, no hymns, no boogie-woogie, no country-western, no symphonies. No singing in the shower. No whistling Dixie.Lovers wouldn't have songs to romance to. There would be no such thing as "our song." Sinatra couldn't fly to the moon. Elvis couldn't complain about people stepping on his blue suede shoes. Tony Bennett would have to write a letter about how he left his heart in San Francisco. Willie might go on the road again, but without a guitar. And Ray Charles would look pretty strange up on stage without a piano telling us that Georgia is on his mind. Then when the wedding day arrived, what would the bride march down the isle to? A poem? Silence? Applause? And when the happy couple marched out of the church together, would they do it to the bark of neighborhood dogs, or perhaps all the wedding guests talking at once? And at the reception, what would they dance to? The Funky Chicken just isn't the same without music. Since rhythm is part of music, no drums would even be allowed. And the honeymoon I suppose would... | |
| | How many people like WIlliw nelson. | | I have been a WIllie Nelson for many years. I love his music and the act that he has written some of the biggest hits and most beautiful songs that other singers have made hits. | |
| | Collecting Things | | I thought I would start my collecting file in my interests section with my Indian collection. like all collection you buy one thing and all of a sudden with presents from people you find you have a collection. I wanted a country & western, music theme for my backyard so I bought an American Native Indian then all of a sudden I have a collection. My yard looks good with my corrigated iron guitar on the fence and my Indians and I have one Cowboy lurking around. | |
| | UN Human Rights Council | | "the commission rejected a call by Havana for an investigation into alleged abuse of detainees at the U.S. Guantanamo Bay detention centre, which is on Cuban territory, drawing cries of "double standards" from Cuba and activists." Cuba again under question by this commision? Not the occupation of Iraq?Stinging rebuke for U.N. rights body swan song
22 Apr 2005 15:49:00 GMTSource: Reuters GENEVA, April 22 (Reuters) - United Nations human rights chief Louise Arbour delivered a stinging closing report to the U.N.'s top rights forum on Friday, saying the way it singled out just four states for rebuke was "not credible". Addressing the 53-state Commission on Human Rights at the end of its annual six-week session, Arbour said nobody could believe that only those four -- Cuba, Myanmar, North Korea and Belarus -- merited scrutiny by the Geneva-based body. "There is something fundamentally wrong with a system in which the question of the violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms in any part of the world is answered by reference to just four states," the High Commissioner for Human Rights added. Israel was, as usual, singled out over alleged violations...

| | What Music Do You Listen to While Painting? | |
"If music be the food of love, play on,
Give me excess of it; that surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken and so die. –
That strain again; – it had a dying fall;O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet south,
That breathes upon a bank of violets:Shakespeare - The Twelfth NightJust wondering what music (if any) you all listen to while painting. Depending on my mood and the piece I'm working on, I listening to a broad range of different music from hardcore punk to classical. I don't much care for Rap (or Hip Hop whatever the difference is) or Country Western, but I ALWAYS have music on while painting. It doesn't matter if I'm playing it aloud on my indoor stereo or listening to it on my iPod (which I always do when using my largest, noisy compressor outdoors), music add the extra inspiration that I need to paint. Anyone care to throw in their two cents? What type of music inspires what type of painting?
| | Why don't people give country music a chance? | | As soon as you mention country music to most people they immediately think of whining, broken hearted, moody song lyrics. What I think they are doing is remembering the old country music from a long time ago. Granted there are some today where the guy lost the girl or vice versa but their not as whiny as they used to be as far as I can tell. There are a lot more patriotic lyrics around today also which are topping the charts constantly.Country performers are into families, friends, their country, helping good causes, religion, having fun and being the best people they can be and wanting to help everyone else do the same. Why do country musicians and their music get such a bad rap? Do you think people really give it a chance and listen to the words to the songs? | |
