| | Your Favorite Movie Score | | There have been a lot of discussions about favorite movies. That's not what this is. I have a deep admiration for composers who score movies. Some scores are just so recognizable out of context, and others are not, but still equally as outstanding. My favorite movie scores include classics like John Williams' Superman and all of the Indiana Jones movies, but I also love underappreciated scores like Edward Shearmur's The Count of Monte Cristo. Danny Elfman's music, even though some of the scores are quite similar, still strikes me as quite impressive. How about you? Who is your favorite movie composer? What makes for a good movie score? And finally, which movie score is your favorite? | |

| | Just a question on what life really is about in USA. | | Early in the 2008 presidential campaign, Mr. Obama's aides viewed any partnership with Mr. Al Sharpton as potentially damaging. Mr. Obama personally took steps to head off a likely visit by Mr. Sharpton to Iowa before that state's caucuses, according to the book "The Audacity to Win," by David Plouffe, Mr. Obama's campaign manager. Mr. Sharpton said that Mr. Obama called him personally about the trip to heavily white Iowa but did not directly dissuade him from going. He said he decided on his own not to visit the state: "I didn't want him to lose because of me."
...Later events would confirm that Mr. Obama was right to be cautious about race. He was forced to denounce racially charged and anti-American comments by his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., who, unlike Mr. Sharpton, refused to heed the campaign's desire that he disappear from view.
But Sharpton is out of the Obama closet:Now, Mr. Sharpton's visits to the White House are announced to the public. Last month, he addressed reporters in the White House driveway after an Oval Office meeting with other black leaders to press the president on jobs. At a White House Christmas party for liberal...

| | Jobs in all 50 states | | Economic adviser Brian Deese was part ot the team that assembled an analysis of how the Amercian Recovery and Reinvestment Plan will create jobs in all 50 states...You've probably heard a lot about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. And you may have heard the President or members of his economic team say that this plan will save or create 3 to 4 million jobs over the next two years. Maybe you wondered where that number comes from. Well, it's from a study by Christina Romer, the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers and Jared Bernstein, Chief Economist to the Vice-President. Their analysis has been confirmed by outside experts including the forecasting firm Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody's. Jumpstarting job growth is the top priority of the Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. Construction jobs to rebuild our nation's crumbling infrastructure...technology jobs to bring, put medical records online and lower health care costs while reducing medical errors...engineering jobs to modernize federal buildings and save billions in annual energy costs...jobs laying broadband lines so a business in rural America can compete with any other business in the world. The plan will... | |

Smiling Parisians show you their city, for free
PARIS, France (AP) -- The city of light has an unfortunate blight: the locals' reputation for rudeness. That's why a group of friendly Parisians have banded together to show complete strangers around their Paris, the one not found in travel books -- for free. And forget stereotypes of the francais-only French. The Paris Greeters are happy to speak English, or nine other languages of your choosing. These local volunteers are not certified tour guides, but regular folks eager to show off delicacies at their favorite boulangerie, or point out a tranquil park perfect for watching autumn shades fill in the famous skyline."I've always heard my American friends say things like, 'Paris is wonderful -- except for the Parisians,"' says volunteer Christian Ragil. "And I always wanted to do something about it." When he retired, he decided to join the Greeters, which...

Murdoch's News Corp., the third-largest U.S. media company, will swap its controlling stake in the satellite TV broadcaster DirecTV Group Inc. for Liberty Media's 16 percent stake in News Corp. The move is expected to end the feud between Rupert Murdoch and John Malone over Liberty Media Corp.'s stake in News Corp. The deal, which is the result of discussions that had been dragging on for months, is subject to various regulatory approvals and must also be approved by a majority of the holders of News Corp.'s Class B voting shares, excluding the Murdoch family and Liberty.Murdoch's News Corp., the third-largest U.S. media company, agreed to buy back the 16.3 percent stake held by Malone's Liberty in exchange for 38.5 percent of DirecTV, $550 million in cash and three regional sports networks, the companies said in a joint statement today.Liberty's Chairman John Malone surprised Murdoch two years ago by suddenly building up a large stake in the global media conglomerate that Murdoch built.
