Frog and Toad Are Friends Discussions
| Help! Need lesson plan for 2nd grade social studies for my "Frog and Toad" unit! | | Hello! I am currently in college for education and I am putting together a unit for the children's books, "Frog and Toad". I need suggestions for a social studies lesson plan. I am thinking of designing one around community involvement or learning about how their communities function (i.e. what type of community do you live in? Urban? Suburban? etc)...but what book would go with that if you know the Frog and Toad series. These are second graders. Also, if you can think of any accomodiations for the Autistic/Asperger child that would be awesome!Thank you so much!

| | Anger Is Like A Fat, Ugly Frog That No One Wants To Kiss. What Do You Think? | | I like this comparison that I got in the email today and it is oh so true. Read this and tell me what you think?"Anger is like a fat, ugly frog that no one wants to kiss. But even
a child knows that when we kiss a frog, a gift appears."-- Robert HoldenAuthor of Shift Happens********************************************************************We all know there is nothing pretty about anger, but the truth is
it gets even uglier when we try to suppress it. The further down we
try to push it, the more insidious it becomes, outwardly causing
irrational thinking, depression, rage and violence, while inwardly
creating ulcers and heart attacks, migraines and addictions. And
every time we try to hide our anger, we miss an opportunity to heal
and change.Instead of trying to bury our anger, we're better off when we
acknowledge its presence; accept that it has arisen to expose our
doubts and fears, our old wounds and our own lack of self. Once
we've "kissed the frog" by accepting its presence, we can let it
go, blessing our old wounds, releasing our fears, and restoring
inner peace as we choose not to react but to create a better way
for ourselves and our...

| | Frog found alive encased in a stone! | | On 8 May 1733, when the master builder Johan Gråberg went to inspect the quarry of Wamlingebo (now Vamlingbo) in Sweden, two of the quarrymen came running up from the excavation in a most excited state. While cutting large blocks of sandstone more than 10ft (3m) below the surface, one of them had discovered a large frog sitting in the middle of a sizeable boulder he had just cut in two with his hammer and wedge. Gråberg followed the workmen .....
http://www.forteantimes.com/features/articles/477/toad_in_the_hole.htmlI am wondering, how this is possible. Don't rocks take thousands of years to form and how did that frog get caught up in there? And how can he still be alive, without food and water and, well air.

| | stupid arrogant french frog! | | first of all, i am not a litigious man, i don't enjoy confrontation. it all started when my wife and myself were trying to apply for a short-stay visa to Paris for a weekend break. as this will be our first time traveling to France, and we haven't got much social experience with french people in our normal daily life, paris is, or shall i say was now, my dream destination! anyway, i was trying to gather some information regarding visa application, as 8 out of 10 nowadays would probably be, i resorted to the frensh ambassy website. following the links it led me to the place relevant to my circumstances, while to my great surprise - all written in French! so i phoned the consulate in hope they can be helpful, and the first response i got was: "we don't deal with any telephone enquiries". i explained their website was written in french, while the so called "advisor, or consul" on the other side of the phone mumbled " if you want to ask about visa, send us an email, and have a nice day!". that was not a normal "have a nice day" she hanged up on me because she couldn't answer my questions, so she hanged up impatiently!! her rudeness over the phone was undescribable.
i couldn't argue... | |
