THIS is our President!!

I keep wondering what country he believes he's president of.In one of my very favorite stories, Edward Everett Hale's "The Man Without A Country," a young Army lieutenant named Philip Nolan stands condemned for treason during the Revolutionary War, having come under the influence of Aaron Burr. When the judge asks him if he wishes to say anything before sentence is passed, young Nolan defiantly exclaims, "Damn the United States! I wish I might never hear of the United States again!"The stunned silence in the courtroom is palpable, pulsing. After a long pause, the judge soberly says to the angry lieutenant: "You have just pronounced your own sentence....
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is Dead
Kurt Vonnegut, whose dark comic talent and urgent moral vision in novels like "Slaughterhouse-Five," "Cat's Cradle" caught the temper of his times and the imagination of a generation, died Wednesday night in Manhattan. He was 84. His death was reported by Morgan Entrekin, a longtime family friend, who said Mr. Vonnegut suffered brain injuries as a result of a fall several weeks ago. Mr. Vonnegut wrote plays, essays and short fiction. But it was his novels that became classics of the American counterculture, making him a literary idol, particularly to students in the 1960s and '70s. Like Mark Twain, Mr. Vonnegut used humor to tackle the basic questions of human existence: Why are we in this world? Is there a presiding figure to make sense of all this, a god who in the end, despite making people suffer, wishes them well?He also shared with Twain a profound pessimism. "Mark Twain," Mr. Vonnegut wrote in his 1991 book, "Fates Worse Than Death: An Autobiographical Collage," "finally stopped laughing at his own agony and that of those around him. He denounced life on this planet as a crock. He died."Not all Mr. Vonnegut's themes were metaphysical. With a blend of vernacular writing,...
Pick up your rifle & DIE for your country!!!
I just received a notification to attend a "call-up" later this year. I was ordered to report back to camp for 2 weeks.Welcome to Singapore, the land of conscription. An imaginative poet would describe the island to be a barbaric one where men are drafted into the national army as soon as they turn 18, only to be worked like a slave for 2 whole years before release. Thereafter, they remain compelled by law to continue their services (though in a lesser capacity) for many years after.I was one of those who suffered the yoke of the old rule; instead of 2 years, I led a "life" of unspeakable description for 2 and a half years. You are less than a speck of dirt, and you should be grateful that your existence was tolerated. Thankfully, I had been released after dutifully serving my term.Yet now, once or twice a year on average, I will be recalled to the army for 2 weeks to 2 months. It doesn't matter if my life will be affected in any way - why should it concern the army? As long as I am still alive, I am not my own man. My life is not my own and I have no free will.I*cannot* even ask the question whether I should continue to serve the army. I cannot because unless...
will you marry a man without house?
nowadays, girls pay much attention on the materials of A Man who she will marry can supply for her. if a girl will consider to marry A Man, her family will see how much property the man possess, does he own a house, a car and how much deposits in a bank? and we see the price of the house today is too expensive to be afforded by many young people especially for those built up for nothing. But they also eager to set up family with their beloved girls.if you are the girl who is seeking for your lover, what do you think?nths. It doesn't matter if my life will be affected in any way - why should it concern the army? As long as I am still alive, I am not my own man. My life is not my own and I have no free will.I*cannot* even ask the question whether I should continue to serve the army. I cannot because unless I give up my citizenship (making me a man without a country), missing my call-up will mark me as a deserter. I will be caught in no time, hauled up in a sack, dragged before a military court and probably sentenced to serve my time in a detention barracks. One does not even need any imagination to imagine...
Would you go for an old man with money or a young man without money?
I know this is a silly question to ask, but I'm just curious to know the opinions from other mylotters, as this situation is happening in real life. Nowadays, I see more and more young and pretty girls being married to men as old as their dads. Either the reason for this is a true love or just for security, I'm not sure. Some of the girls who are married to much older men say it's because, older men are more responsible, understanding and sweet to their brides than young men are, but I want to know more, that's why I posted this here. If you were a pretty young girl, 18-25 yrs old, and you had two suitors- say the first one was in his 50's or above, and he had handsome money; the other one was a young guy, age 18-30, and he just had an ordinary job with a monthly pay from minimum to average. Say these men were both nice and sincere to you, whom would you choose to marry and why?
can't you love a man without a diamond
my boyfriend never send me flowers, but i know he loves me. he is the person who don't like to buy things have few practical use. and i agree with him .especially when we are very young and haven't yet buy house or a car so i told him i hardly want a diamond on the wedding day
Is man without feelings brutal?
It is so disappointing to me when I hear stories both from men and women who accepted sexual contact with someone who they had no feelings . There are people who meet someone and in a few minutes they are ready to have a one night stand. The worst is that these people are in this habit and do it so easily. I think that changing so many partners in your life is similar to poison your own soul. How can these people do something like that witout being in deep love with their partner. man is not like food that you can have it any time you are hungry and in a different restaurant each time. Do you agree with me?man has to be done only when there are deep love feelings.
Is a man without religion is a man without soul?
If a man doesn't have a religion it is likely he doesn't even believe there are souls. And there are religions without souls in them.
What is man without EDUCATION???
Education is a companion which no misfortune can depress, no crime can destroy, no enemy can alienate, no despotism can enslave. At home, a friend, abrood, an introduction, in solitude a solace and in society an ornament. It chastens vice, it guides virtue, it gives at once grace and government to genius. Without it, what is man? A splendid slave, a reasoning savage.
